Surf in august??
 

Hi there,
after reading a lot, really a lot, I still have some few questions for you experts on Hawaii islands.
FIrst of them is if I will be able to get some surf lesson in august and see some good waves?
I am planning of visiting Oahu, Kauai(and or Maui) and Big Islands.
Shall I accomodate in a single place for each islands and then it will be easy to move around or on some islands it would be better to have different accomodation to explore?
Going back to airline seats...I have booked Business class round trip from Italy...and I have a Delta flight from HNL to ATL....(DL1282)it seems to have no business class...could it be??

In general, the surf in June - September is alot smaller than December - March, but south beaches like Waikiki get the occasional big swell in August. So you should have no trouble finding surfing lessons and some surfable waves in August, but nothing like the monsters that hit the North shore in the rainy season, that's for certain.

With regards to your second question, the islands arent so big - except the Big Island ;) - that one cannot see all of them without changing hotels, but on the other hand, with 4 days on O'ahu, for instance, I could handle two nights in Waikiki, and two nights at Turtle Bay (North Shore), for instance.

Only two nights on the North Shore would be rather boring for surf in August. ;)

we've had some good waves on the south shore of Oahu in August, especially off Ala Moana Park (Honolulu), and the south shore of Kauai (near the Beach House restaurant in Poipu.

I was thinking of the North Shore/Turtle Bay for more of a relaxing get-away, rather than a surf expedition.

Most domestic US flights only offer First Class and Coach. There are some exceptions, but most do not offer Business Class.

Just a warning - domestic US First Class is nothing like trans-Atlantic First Class! :(

I honestly believe the Waiolas in McCully tops Matsumotos any day.
What type of aircraft is that flight? A 764 or a 753? If it's a 763, you receive international business class seating with regular domestic service. If it's a 764, expect really terrible domestic seating with regular domestic service.

I am not a surfer, so it would be fine "small" waves for some lessons.
I just don't want to be screwed for a surf school!
The Aircraft is a 767-400 from Delta.

If you're looking at small waves, Waikiki will likely be your best bet, so long as there's no unusual south swell. The North Shore has a tendency to get real glassy during the summer months, so I'd avoid if you're primarily going to Hawaii to learn to surf.

764 on Delta... No comment.
