Which boat for fishing?

Any recommendation on shared fishing charter? I have been reading up on the FAQs. "Start Me Up" so far looks good to me. Also do they have bathrooms on these boats?

What island are you looking for?

Most of the charter boats over 28' will have a head. Some of the smaller ones do as well.

Here's a consolidated list of boats, if it helps.

My bad, I forgot to say I'll be in Maui.

Depends on where you are staying - if you are in Makena/Wailea, the Ma`alaea Harbor is a little closer than driving all the way out to Lahaina. Otherwise, they are all pretty good. I've always been a fan of the Finest Kind, only because she's a Merritt '37 and just a beauty. Carol Ann's a Bertram 33, like the ones I grew up on. If it's calm enough, I hope they take you to the back (north) side of Moloka`i - even if the fish aren't biting, the scenery will leave you in awe.

The biggest marlin I have personally hooked into was in the triangle between Lana`i, West Maui, and Kaho`olawe. We fought her for about three hours, only to break the leader (400# test) at the transom. I'd say she was over 300 lbs., easy.

Just avoid any boats with a skipper wearing khakis and a blue polo shirt and a first mate wearing dungarees, a red rugby shirt, and a white bucket hat... :D

the Lahaina Harbor is about five minutes from the Westin.
