As I understand it, HNL used to have an Airport Mini-Hotel where you could take a shower for about $8 or have a room with a shower to use for two hours for about $20. But apparently these facilities are now closed. For us visitors to Oahu who wish to maximize our beach time on the last day of our trip before a late evening redeye back to the mainland, is there anywhere we can take a shower (and possibly store bags) cheaply (e.g. for less than $20?). I suppose the public beach showers are our only alternative -- and not the one I was hoping for -- but I thought I'd ask anyway.

The facility (the ShowerTree) in the airport moved about 1 - 1.5 mile offsite. From their website, the place still looks quite affordable. Since you want to store your luggage, you will have to rent an overnight room which is $22 plus tax. If you only wanted the hot shower, it would only be $7.50 plus tax. They don't have a free shuttle service to/from the airport, but it is on a major bus line or you can walk if you feel like it.

Thank you, TropicalFlyer, for pointing me in the direction of the Shower Tree. ^ I'll have a rental car which will take care of both the luggage storage and transportation issues. Basically, I just wanted to make sure that I could hit the beach all day on our last day in paradise and still show up for the long trip back without smelling and feeling like saltwater.
And slippahs, thanks to you for you continued excellent insight on travel to Hawaii. Perhaps you could add the information about the Shower Tree to the sticky you mastermined in this forum.

If you're staying on Oahu, check with your hotel for a hospitality room.
I know the HHV has numerous rooms for this purpose and they are free. There's even a housekeeper stationed in the hallway to keep the rooms clean in-between guests. I was pleasantly surprised.
The Hyatt Waikiki also offered rooms but we didn't need them, as we were able to get a late check out.
On check out days when we had a 10 or 11pm flight we paid for the room for an extra day so we could have the convenience and comfort of our own hotel room without having to rush around and pack up in the morning.

Yeah, I was going to suggest Slippahs's place for a shower, (after he picks you up in the Honda) but I hear he's not cheap

Have a nice weekend, everyone!

Showers in HNL? Answer: Shower Tree (Off-site from HNL)
My wife has a long layover coming up from Japan through HNL in first on UA.
I am pretty sure the RCC doesn't have showers. Is there some other alternative she could use? One of those pay to use places maybe?

If you only wanted use of the shower facilities, it costs a very reasonable $8.18. They don't have a free shuttle service to/from the airport, but it is on a major bus line or you can walk or just take a cab.
