Kauai-what's the latest with the storms

I heard that there is some damage from the storms, including power lines and trees that are down.
Does anyone know the extent of the damage?

We are leaving for Kauai in two weeks.

Although O'ahu is the central focus for these articles, Kauai was just as heavily hit and is mentioned as well.

In two weeks, there shouldn't be too much of a problem for your trip to Kauai as it wasn't a hurricane that devistated the islands. The state is very quickly fixing the mess the storm made...

Raining during your vacation is another story, however... but check the weather reports as your trip dates get closer.

But, as we locals would say it: "No worries, sistah" http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/wink.gif and enjoy your vacation to the islands!

Of course, I am less concerned with how this will effect my vacation, and more concerned of the people who live there and their homes...but I was curious as to what was going on. THanks for the info.

By the way, slippahs, I never heard back from you regarding the Hau Tree Lanai and north shore (Oahu) questions I emailed you. That's ok, it wasn't really important anyway.

Your knowledge and guidance on this board is appreciated by many!

I'm sooo sorry http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttr...orum/frown.gif I'm generally good at responding to FT e-mails but I probably disregarded the e-mail as spam or it went straight to my spam folder... but if you'd like, please resend me the e-mail and I'll surely respond!

We are all doing fine here. There was some scattered minor damage to some homes. Power was out for a few hours at various times, but you won't notice anything out of the ordinary when you arrive. It depends on where people were located. We received no damage at all. We are on the North Shore on 5 acres surrounded by trees that buffered the wind. A friend of ours on the East side who overlooks a valley facing the winds had several trees come down, one on his spa. But it is not like having a hurricane came through.

Have a wonderful time on the Garden Island.
