22 minute Layover at KOA enough time?

I am looking to purchase some tickets and right now my best deal is to have a 22 minute layover with a connection from American Airlines going onto a Southwest flight. I will not have checked baggage as I will only have carryons. Will I be able to make the connection?

I greatly appreciate any and all responses.

Thank you

Welcome to Flyertalk!

We really need more information here: What is your itinerary/carriers?

22 minutes would be within the minimum connect time (MCT) for KOA. Still, unless you are using the same plane for both flights, you are risking a misconnection. How risk tolerant are you?

Here is the MCT information:STANDARD.D/D...D/I...I/D...I/I.

OP says they are connecting from an AA flight to WN. I do not think this can be on the same ticket, so if the AA flight is delayed, the OP would have no recourse on getting re-booked onto another inter-island flight by AA. Southwest will just treat the OP as a late-arriving passenger and would not be obliged to refund them their fare or allow them onto another flight without purchasing another ticket. I'm not aware of any interline agreement between American Airlines and Southwest, either. So, I'm seeing some significant risk with little margin for error.

Thank you for the responses, yes we would need to buy separate tickets. After reading the responses I decided to pick flights with more time between the flights in and out of KOA. I appreciate this forum very much for traveling. On our return we will be spending more time on Kona during the day and I have seen some great ideas on what to do with our 6 hours on the island that we will have between flights. Thank you everyone.
