Kona Village Resort to Re-open in 2022

Looking forward to the re-opening of KVR. This was our favorite place to go for many years until the tsunami damaged the village beyond a simple repair. It will be almost 10 years between the closing and re-opening. The resort will be managed by Rosewood Resorts and they have promised to keep the spirit of the original KVR alive in the new resort.

For those who want to learn more about what's been happening between the shutdown and now, there is an active page on FaceBook that has been keeping up with the progress along with updates from the former staff who many repeat visitors regarded as "ohana" (family). https://www.facebook.com/SaveKonaVillage/

I first heard of this resort in 2000 when my wife and I were flying to KOA for a stay at a lesser known condo. I was seated next to a business man & his family from San Francisco area, and their au pair, and they were looking forward to a stay at KHV. I asked if they were going to rent a car and see some of the island's sights. He said, no, they were just going to chill at the resort. I thought to myself "how boring" but to each his own. Sounds like a wonderful resort.

Was snorkeling next door yesterday and the construction was *loud*. So they are actively working, but very much a ways to go...
