Good quarion, and no, if from Europe I could get it for $2k then for sure. Unlikely though!!. That said I was ok with the seat I had. It was a daytime flight both ways LAX-HNL-LAX and apart from an interesting view of Oahu in arrival, nothing else to see out at for 6 hrs.

Not quite the same as the Stratocruiser, but Elvis and the hula dancers were part of the movie Blue Hawaii - and it too has a United connection:

It is also notable how well the passengers were dressed, no shorts or tank tops as is now common on flights to/from the islands.
