All about Kauai
[B]If you are visiting Kauai, I am happy to answer your questions.
I've lived on the island for almost 15 years. I've traveled to most of the other islands and find Kauai to be the most beautiful and serene.
If you are looking for a happening place with night life, then you would be better off spending your time in Oahu but If you are in need of some respite from the world, love nature and being outdoors, you will enjoy our little slice of paradise.
Aloha

Hey Solarliving, My wife and I have a vacation booked August 21-28th to Kauai. We are staying at a home I found on Airbnb at Anahola. I am looking forward to relaxing on the Garden Isle! Do you have any advice of things I should look out for and some must do's while we are there? I definitely want to go scuba diving, hiking, snorkeling (have my own gear), surfing/boogie boarding and maybe kite surfing. Looking to do these activities as cheap as possible. Any pointers on how to make the best of this trip? Thanks!

Just not very quickly.
To the second poster, if you do a search of this forum, you can find answers to most of your questions, as well is in this thread:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/hawai...do-thread.html
Additionally, a lot of people swear by The Ultimate Kauai Guidebook: Kauai Revealed. It's particularly helpful with trails for hiking and other adventure activities. You can buy it online at BN.com or Amazon. It's also available at the Costco in Lihue. They always have the latest edition available. They also have an app available - I haven't used it, so I can't recommend it one way or another. I've found the Kauai GPS Tourguide app to be helpful.
You'll also find the recommendations in this forum on car rentals and restaurants very helpful.

Aloha Chris,
A few activities I would recommend.
Hiking along the Napali Coastline Kalalau Trail on the North Side
Kayak and hike to Secret Falls- Wailua.
You can leave from 2 different places. I like to rent from the people at Kamokila Hawaiian Village because you get a chance to see an old village and it's a bit closer to the falls.
Afternoon or sunset cruise along Napali coast- Leaves from Port Allen
Most of the time you will see whales and dolphins. You are also served some food and drink. (note: Sit near the captain if you have issues with sea sickness ; D)
Bike riding along the bike path on East side. Takes you to Kealia beach. You can rent bikes in Kapaa for a good deal.
Some of my favorite beaches are Kealia- Close to Anahola
Hanalei Bay is nice- rental gear near by for surfing, boogie boarding.
Aninin's Beach- easy swim, some nice snorkeling.
Enjoy your vacation,
Aloha

Lodging
Hello
Have our flights to Kauai March 20 through March 27, 2018.. have no lodging booked. Needing suggestions for areas to stay with the most son at that time of year it’s just the two of us for our 25th wedding anniversary condo or hotel. Would like to be close to a walking beach and bar! any suggestions would be helpful !

Recently came across this live webcam from Nihi Kai at Poipu. I'm not recommending the rental agency - just the view!

I’m already on probation for disclosing Pipeline Bakery on Oahu, but what the heck...
Wailua Shave Ice is the only place you need to visit on Kaua’i. I believe @Calcifer tried to go to the San Diego location with you.
