Hilo - Luxurious Waterfall and Pool Resort?

Gang,

My boss just came to me... she is planning a trip to Hawaii... and will be spending two evenings on the Hilo side. She saw this property and was thinking of booking it. I have been to Hilo a few times... but never heard of this property.

Any inside info here? Anyone stayed here or know of the property?

It's a beautiful area, and it looks like it's relatively high (up a few hundred feet).

No clue about it, though.

For luxury, I'd still recommend the Palms Cliff House. Several trip reports (including from AZ Travels the World)

Sounds beautiful... any other Hilo properties you would recommend? It will be my boss, her husband and their special needs son (18 years old). Does not need to be luxurious... but they do want water....

We stayed in a private home the last two times we were there, so do not really know the Hilo or Kona hotels.

She will also spend time on the Kona side.... so any recommendations there would be great also... they will be on the Big Island March 21 - 24, if that makes a difference.

Keep in mind that there are no hotels in Hilo that are better than 2 1/2 stars (and that might be generous).

The Palms Cliff House has spectacular ocean views, but no beach (those are few and far between on the east side -- although Hakalau Bay is just a few minutes away and is a lovely local beach - as long as you're not expecting the classic white sand From Here To Eternity type beach ;)

There might be some suggestions on this thread:

For a truly fun, and very "local-style" experience, I can highly recommend the Dolphin Bay Hotel.

Hmm. I don't see a link in your post. Disabled?

I am not aware of any luxury accommodation that has a pool on our side of the island.
B&Bs:

The aforementioned Palms Cliff house is luxury, some rooms have spas.

We also have the historic Shipman House, a gorgeous Mansion in a beautiful setting.

The Inn at Kulaniapia Falls is just up the hill on the same road as Shipman House, very private, with a view if a waterfall.

Those are the snazziest I can think of that are currently active.

Those three also come to mind for me, but I'd have to correct you - Shipman House is on Reed's Island, across the wooden bridge above the Hilo Library, while the Inn at Kulaniapia Falls is on the north side of the Wailuku River, up the road that's the first left after you cross the paved bridge below the Library.

Sorry !
You are correct DanTravels.

I was thinking of this one at the top of Reed's Island.

So there are 4 ritzy vacation accommodations.
