Avoid Kobe on Maui
:td:This was our second trip to Maui and our second visit to Kobe, lahaina, Maui. We had such a great time last year and told all of our friends that visit Maui to go to Kobe, however the service has gone down hill in 2010. Here is my story.....Last night I made a 7 pm reservation. When we arrived right on time the hostess already had our names crossed off on the list and 9pm written beside it. I asked her what that meant she said "oh it's nothing, just have a seat in the bar until you're called". So we sat at the bar until 7:45. Even the bartender asked us "why havn't you been seated"? Then at 8 pm we were seated, by this time we were happy to finally get a seat. Another 25 minutes pass and there is still no food. People at my table were happy thier wait was averaging 30 mins.. even with reservations. At this point I was VIVID and talked to managment. I explained the situtation and how unimpressed I was at the wait time. He said " Go sit down and wait, I might give you a discount at the end". I replied "might? well I think we are leaving". He replied "okay, go ahead then". So I went to the table and told my boyfriend that we are leaving and as I walked up the cooked passed me with the food. Then when the chef started cooking it was 8:50 pm. So we stayed. After this two hour battle and trying to tough it out to the end we WON the fight our meal was free. So if you are brave enough and patient enough and have the fight in you after 2 hours. Make sure you tell the manager that you read online that this happens to people and you came based on the word of mouth promise and the Kobe name. Tell him that the food is not enough to keep us coming back. This day in age our society appreciates servivce above all. make sure you don't pay! but be generous with the tip! also the food was not as good as the last time. Maybe because I was so upset I lost my appitite. I don't recommend you bring children here, they might die of starvation first.
