Compensation on HA for delayed flights?

Well, it finally happened to me... One of my transpac flights took a 5 hour delay and all they offered us was a $15 meal voucher... I am not one to complain, the gate agents kept everyone calm and were professional, but I feel that my time is worth more than a meal voucher. I am wondering what peoples experiences have been like with delays like this and if I should ask for something like a $200 travel credit or even a transpac upgrade..... Thoughts?

A couple of years ago, during the 767 shortage, a 10+ hour delay netted a $200 voucher and 1500 miles. But the best part was the "extra day" on Maui.

last year i was flying LAX-HNL on ATA and we had a 7 hour delay, we got 2 meal vouchers and a $400 travel credit (as long as our ticket we paid was more than that)... too bad that credit is worthless now :(

A friend was on the LAX-HNL flight yesterday. First the flight was delayed two hours and then passengers were told that there was a mechanical problem which resulted in another three hour delay.

Everyone was given a meal voucher but were told that since the delay was less than six hours, that was all they were going to get.

It wouldn't be that bad if the flight ended up arriving at a reasonable hour but it was after 2 am when they arrived in HNL.

Can't believe a five hour delay doesn't deserve some sort of compensation.

In our capital society, airlines could easily compete on mechanical delay compensation.;) I can see it now: "We give you the Most, when our planes are Toast!"
