I got us the HNL-LIH tix, and my sis arranged the LIH-HNL ones. I put us on HA, she bought Go.

Ok- so do I keep my fingers crossed that they stay in business so our trip has no snags? Or do I say 'whatever', and smile if we can't get off of Kauai?

Hmmm, the latter isn't too bad.

They are still selling seats for May.

Nobody was watching the media...

...but Google is my fiend and found this very very quickly:

Mesa Air reaches tentative bond agreement (Arizona Republic, January 24, 2009)

So it looks like they've managed to keep the wolves outside the door for now. Won't be 100% sure of that until after Feb 10, because "The company said it is continuing to negotiate with certain remaining bondholders."

Congrats, DanTravels! I finished a few years ago, and for some reason chipping away at #2.

When shall we call you MasterTravels?

wait a second, isn't Go! a subsidiary of Mesa, so if Go! stops operating, wouldn't Mesa liable?

go! is a subsidiary of Mesa Air Group (NASDAQ:MESA), yes. And I would imagine Mesa decides whether go! continues operating.

go! states on their website that changes can be made to an existing ticket"for $20 per customer plus any difference in airfare."

Now, the price of my tickets have dropped by $16 each since I purchased them. So, can I just have them reissued for a later date (say Jan. 2010) at a cost of $4 net apiece? That would mean for $20 I could by myself almost another year of waiting...

No. The change fee is a flat fee and has nothing to do with whether the fare has gone up or down.

So, if you changed your res, you'd pay the $20, but would not have to pay any more for a fare increase.

Depends upon when you purchased the ticket. You have one year from date of original purchase. Changing the ticket does not add time to the clock.

Ooh, this just got a LOT more interesting.

Remember those agreements Mesa reached late last month to restructure the $30 million it owes on bonds that come due tomorrow?

Yeah, um, about that. Not so much. In response to "a regulatory inquiry," Mesa has notified the other parties to those agreements that it intends to rescind the agreements... and that they probably won't hear from it again until at least the day after tomorrow.

http://uk.reuters.com/article/market...46553220090209

Oh, and by way of comparison to that $30 million in debt, right now the stock market capitalization of MESA is about... $2.48 million.

So... what happens tomorrow? Oh, wait, wait, let me guess, it involves Jonathan Orenstein, 2 checked bags of hundred-dollar bills, and a first-class ticket to somewhere far, far outside U.S. jurisdiction... am I close?

Hey Slippahs, pass the popcorn, wouldja?

Right. Just what the Hawaiian economy needs -- another employer gone. . . more people out of work. . . less competition in the marketplace. . . higher fares. . . fewer tourists. . . yet another employer gone. . . more people out of work. . .

"Pass the popcorn."

I hope it tastes good.

Funny, it was more of a duopoly when the two biggest carriers were HA and go! Then Mokulele came to town and competition was back. Sorry, go! needs to go.

No less pono company can be imagined. They trashed Hawai`ian values while claiming to "love" Hawai`i, and were the primary cause of Aloha's going out of business. Now that was a true loss for those in Hawai`i or those who care about Hawai`i.
