Does HA allow wine to be checked into the hold?
Does Hawaiian Airlines allow wine to be checked into the hold? If so, anyone know how much?
I looked at their Web site and called, but couldn't get an answer. The agent gave me the phone number for the TSA. Thanks! |
Try to do called HA by 1-800 number. They will be gladly your assistance about information by wine. That means I don't think you shouldn't allowed bring the wine placed into checked bags. You should wait for your final destination cities. You can purchasable at liquors store instead of placed checked bags. Because it will be fragile of wine. They will be causes some extremely damaged during your flight. You have to signed the limited releases when you prior check in counter before your bags is ongoing to TSA screening.

Why would checked wine be a security concern? It is not high enough concentration to sustain fire. Wine should be fine to check, I have done so many times, but never on HA.

Flew HA from KOA-HNL with 2 bottles in my checked bag. No problem. Living in UT I frequently check wine in my bag...no problems with breakage. Just wrap the bottles in your clothes.

I will be traveling from LAX to KOA in Dec. on HA and wanted to take some wine with me. When packing the wine in your checked bag do you need to let the agent know when checking in? TIA

I have checked wine several times on Hawaiian and had some of those bags hand checked by TSA. No issues at all. I have just checked the bags and have not mentioned the wine since it was only one or two bottles and I didn't think of it being a concern. Don

Thanks for the info. :)

We bought some excellent wine from the winery on Maui and checked the box with no problems. The winery is used to this and provides shipping boxes with foam inserts for the bottles. It arrived with us in Chicago just fine.

flew from SYD-LIH with a case of wine on HAwaiian - no problema except they did make me check it at the fragile/oversized area in Sydney

I travel with bottles everywhere I go. Bringing back local wine, microbrews, etc. Coming back from HA always bring several bottles of our fav dark rum. Last time I checked, the TSA website said 2 bottles per suitcase, but I've never had a problem bringing back more. Just make sure you pad them well, and lock your suitcase.

I picked up a box from Bevmo that holds 3 bottles and already have a lock so I will just have to remember to put it on the suitcase. Thanks again for all the info.
MarcWPhoto, what wine did you get from Maui? I will also be there for a couple days visiting family so I might have pick some up. |

I brought back a couple bottles to ANC (survived OGG-SEA-LAX-ANC) Didn't have any yet... but parents recommended it... ended up purchasing from Costco on the way to the airport (had to run to the A/C) |

If you have a little time, the tour is nice and if you're lucky, it will be conducted by Emily, who I am fairly sure is a Bodhisattva. The grounds are very pretty and the drive from Kahului is quite scenic. It also passes by Sun Yat Sen Park, which is one of Maui's less expected tourist attractions. M |
