Double CO Onepass Miles
This thread has been looking a little lonely lately. So feast your eyes on this........ From February 1 through April 30, 2000, you can earn double OnePass miles (new O/W total = 1000 mi) for every interisland flight operated by Hawaiian Airlines. |
MisterNice- Any special code or pre-registration (I hate), for the double miles? I am going over next week.
|
SAPMAN-
It looks as if registration is not required. They had a similar promo last year and no registration was required then. Be certain to give Hawaiian Airlines your Onepass number at reservation time and recheck upon HA check-in. It does not have to be a CO code share flight. Posting of miles is slow as they seem to sweep about every 2-3 months. Do NOT buy your ticket through CO. Outrageous pricing. Buy as a separate set of tickets......you will save hundreds of dollars. Also Outrigger Hotels is giving 2X miles. They are a large mid-range hotel chain in HI, on every island and usually a bargain. They have specials and a web site at http://www.outrigger.com . I hope you enjoy your stay. I am looking to returning to Maui in early March. Lemme know if I can be of any assistance. See info on both promos at: http://www.onepass.com/newpart.htm |
MisterNice,
Is this for flights taken or flights purchased prior to April 30, 2000? Thanks |
gresmi-
Last year the offer had the same wording, and I received 2X miles for all inter-island flights ACTUALLY FLOWN during the stated inclusive dates. Again be certain to give HA your Onepass number, and not a HA number. They do not need to be code-shared or other special type of flights. Any HA inter-island flight should get the miles. Please note, it will take 1-3 mo to get credit and for a couple of flights I had to send copies of the HA boarding passes (real difficult to do using HI residents coupons) to get the miles. Overall, still it is a good deal. |
CO always offered 500 miles on HA's interisland flights unlike HA's other partners like AA and NW. But in the other hand, CO required 10K miles for HA's interisland flights award ticket. BTW AA and NW requires 5K miles for the same reward but you earn 250 miles.
Please update me if I have old info. ------------------ "It is not doing the things we like to do, but liking the things we have to do, that makes life blessed." - Goethe |
Maybe I am missing something. To make the math easier, assume I take 20 O/W inter-island flights on HA and give them my CO Onepass number for mileage credit. My cost 3 days ago was $52 for a O/W HA ticket or approx $1040 for 20 flights total. For this I receive the flights AND 20,000 Onepass miles (10,000 that count for Elite status). My freebie flight choices are: (A) Take 2 RT flight on HA, worth 4 X $52 = $208 (or) (B) Take 1 RT flight on CO, typically worth $400-$2400* It really does not matter what the other airlines math ...this is a very good $$$$-saving deal. * I paid $2400 a month ago PHL-SEA-PHL for last minute travel |
B) would be better choice.
If you opt for NW miles, you would get same for the option A. Since you can get HA interisland tickets for only 5K. Last time I got HA flight coupons from a travel agent is Lihue for $49; I think you get save a few $ if you buy the flight coupons from travel agents. If you are HA resident, you can get lower fares right? ------------------ "It is not doing the things we like to do, but liking the things we have to do, that makes life blessed." - Goethe [This message has been edited by DH (edited 03-13-2000).] |
DH- In theory the coupons are for Hawaiian residents use only. In practice it is rarely enforced. They can be bought from local TA, Aloha or Hawaiian Airlines directly (usually in packs of 4-12), or from the Bank of Hawaii ATM machines. Cost is cheapest from TA and it varies among them. Pay cash and you always pay less. Call around. Cheapest I found today was $56.00. Probably $58 at B of H ATM's. For those not here in Aloha-land, you can call the HA 800 number from abroad and say you wish to make an inter-island reservation using a coupon. If they ask "what type?" say "YOW". Be certain to give them your CO or NW freq flyer number. Interestingly enough, YOW is one of the highest priorities in the reduced fare bucket. Make your reservation and upon arrival go to one of the many B of H ATM in the airport and buy your coupon(s). You fill them out with a pen with the your name, flight, time etc. One downside of not having the coupon in-hand in the 48 is you can only check baggage to (usually) HNL. If you have a coupon AND HA reservation you can check baggage to where you are going to with the coupon. Of course, this is CLASSIFIED INFORMATION for FT members-in-good-standing only. Repeat, do not repeat this to anyone and enjoy the wonderful islands. Aloha!! |
Not necessarily. Sure you can buy the coupons by the booklet but any TA will sell you any number of coupons.
I believe HI resident's fares are cheaper than any visitor could get but I could be wrong. Is there any HI resident F-Ters to verify this? BTW looks like coupons went up by several $ since I have been to HI in Sept 98. FYI, HA coupons at ATMs were $52.50 and I paid $48.50 with TA. ------------------ "It is not doing the things we like to do, but liking the things we have to do, that makes life blessed." - Goethe |
DH- I thought I was clear, but I will give it one more college-try.......then I will give up and go drink another mai tai: (DH) Not necessarily. Sure you can buy the coupons by the booklet but any TA will sell you any number of coupons. (MisterNice) That is why the "(usually in packs of 4-12)" only follows the remark after the HA airline reference (DH) I believe HI resident's fares are cheaper than any visitor could get but I could be wrong. Is there any HI resident F-Ters to verify this? (MisterNice) I am a HI resident, and I often use said coupons. You are certainly free to get a second FT-er opinion (DH) BTW looks like coupons went up by several $ since I have been to HI in Sept 98. FYI, HA coupons at ATMs were $52.50 and I paid $48.50 with TA. (MisterNice) Not only have they gone up since 9/98, they also went down in price since 9/98. I buy them every month |
All the miles from this nice friendly offer finally posted this month. Five RT on HA gave 5000 elite miles, 5000 bonus miles and 1250 plat bonus miles for a total of 11250 Onepass miles.....about half of a freebie RT on CO in most of the USA. A nice and easy deal. Because of this, I will fly HA rather than Aloha Airlines from now on.

(Q) MisterNice, please tell me, what is the significance of the YOW code?
(A) It is the fare basis in HA coach. It has one of the highest "priorities"* in reserving space for a flight (remember, no reserved seats in inter-island service). I bought some a week ago and these now nicely state fare basis: YPAII1 (ie better forget YOW) and are good until 9/30/00. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- (Q) Another question: so, when I board my DL flight in VA, can I tell DL that my final destination is Lihue, and can I then avoid having to drag my luggage around HNL? (A) OK, this is exactly what I do. I make my nice reservation with HA and fill out the coupon with my name, date, flt # etc. I then present it along with my CO ticket (or E-reservation printout) to the CO ticket agent and REQUEST my bags be checked to Kahului or whatever. The ticket agent will telephone HA, confirm the reservation and then ticket the bag to Kahului. In fact if flying CO and inter-islanding HA, you get the HA boarding pass too. My best guess is the above will NOT happen unless you have the HA ticket nicely in hand. I had previously reserved bags to HNL, picked them up and then checked in with HA to go to onto Kahului. It is a friggin mess and adds 45-90 min to the process depending on date, time of arrival etc as well as then lugging the bags about 0.4 mi to the inter-island terminal and upstairs. I formerly flew mostly DL and Aloha Airlines. Believe me, it is currently FAR better and FAR nicer on CO and BusinessFirst (I do this 8-12 times/year so I have a fairly good viewpoint to Hawaii on DL, UA, AA, CO etc). If and when DL introduces BusinessElite to HNL, I will again re-evaluate them. Until then, the tired, cramped, filthy L-1011's are out for transporting my bod, both f/c or coach, and I flew them often from mainland to HI. *similar to priority waitlist, I assume |
