HA Saver Upgrade Availability?
 

Hello--we are looking for fly from JFK to HNL on 12/2. Looking to buy Y on cash and upgrade with HAMiles to J. I know the upgrade is relatively easy and can be had for 25K or 50K depending on upgrade availability. But the chat agent is not able to tell me whether the upgrade will cost 25K or 50K. They are just saying it is a "range" which is very frustrating.

Can anyone with ExpertFlyer check if there is any A availability (i.e., saver upgrade availablity for 25K miles per person) on that date and route? A couple of days before would be great too.

Does A availability ever get added or should I just grab 2 Ps now if I want to guarantee first class on this flight?

Yes, they do sometimes open A availability closer to departure. I don't have nearly enough experience with their upgrades to assess chances for your route and date, and have enough miles that I tend to grab upgrades when I buy tickets.
