Updated Hawaiian Air Mobile App Available (2019/02/25)

Looks like Hawaiian completely overhauled its mobile app (FINALLY!). See: https://www.hawaiianairlines.com/app

First impressions... Let's face it, anything would be better than the original version that was simply a mobile website in an app. Still, it does not appear that you can book tickets natively in the app (it redirects you to the mobile website). You also cannot see any account details like miles/Pualani qualification status. Looks like the app really addresses mobile boarding passes. But nice videos of Hawaii that I think are themed to the time of day.

Good if check in and boarding passes actually work smoothly and consistently, and good that they’ve enabled biometric login. Otherwise that’s a pretty homely baby after all that gestation time.

Have had the chance to play with the app with a live reservation in there. Couple of things to note:

1. The check-in process through the app is seamless and works just like the major carriers with the ability to add the pass to the Apple wallet at the end. As long as you stay logged in, the in-app mobile boarding pass is also there.

2. There are upgrade and standby waitlists that are displayed once the flight is checked in on the app within 24 hours. There is also a live seat map to give one a better sense into accurate upgrade and standby chances.

EDIT - you can view the standby and upgrade lists for any flights that are available for viewing on the flight status.

These two are probably the greatest improvements to the app that Iíve noticed. Will probably try to standby on a flight tomorrow, so interested to see what happens!
