Itinerary change with hawaiian, recourse?

Hello

I got a notice saying that my Hawaiian air flight from LIH to HNL will be moved back by an hour. I'm worried that I'll miss my connecting flight to the mainland. Does anyone have experience when dealing with hawaiian when this happens? I called reservations and they said an "accommodations specialist" would be calling me. I would prefer a refund and go elsewhere. I looked up their Rule 35 regarding "schedule irregularity" which I believe this falls into and it was kinda vague. Seemed like they had to get my to my destination and no cost or offer refund. Thoughts?

If the new connection time is below MCT, HA must reroute or refund you. If it is a tight connection and HA is delayed, causing a misconnect, HA must reroute you. But, reroutes are, of course, subject to availability and may well be in some lousy seat.

Why not post the exact routing and you will get some better advice.

Was your connecting flight from HNL to the mainland also on Hawaiian and booked on the same itinerary? If not, they're not obligated to accommodate you. If so, then either the new flight is still within the published minimum connect time and Hawaiian will be obligated to get you to your final destination one way or another, or it's not and the accommodations specialist will help change your flight.

That said, there are plenty of LIH to HNL flights so you should be able to switch to an earlier flight.

I'm not sure where else you would go. Nobody else flies from LIH to HNL. Are you hoping to get a nonstop flight from LIH to the mainland on another airline? Be sure to price that out before asking for a refund from Hawaiian...
