Hawaiian Airlines First Class on a Multi City | Baggage Query

Hi all

We have a multi city ticket with Hawaiian for inter island travel.
Hnl - lih - ogg - hnl

If we upgrade leg 2 lih to ogg to first class will this give us first class baggage allowance for the remaining legs? E. G if the upgrade cost was 50 dollars each on one leg would that get us the first class luggage allowance for the other legs? I know it works that ay with international travel on AA and BA but wasn't sure for Hawaiian inter islands

Thanks

There is no difference in baggage allowance per class, there is only a difference in fees. The fees for the first and second bags are waived if you're in First. Bag fees are per check-in. Bag fees for a particular check-in will only be waived if one of the segments included in that check-in is first class. Just having a first class flight somewhere else in the multi-city itinerary but not included in that check-in is not enough.

For an itinerary like this, you'll probably be checking in separately for each segment, in which case you would need first class on each segment you wanted to waive the bag fees for. It's worth looking into what the upgrade costs are. If they aren't much more than your bag fees, you might as well, though interisland First Class is not worth it otherwise. You can find out the costs and do the upgrade yourself on the HA website. Note that the $50 upgrade fee is only for day-of-departure upgrades. Before that, you will need to pay the difference in fare which will probably be more than $50.
