HA returns to JHM (West Maui)
I'm seeing flights from HNL or JHM loaded for Jan 14th 2017 on An ATR 42 loaded
The fleet page now lists west Maui https://www.hawaiianairlines.com/our...eet/atr-42-500 |
Meh. I know this is FT, and I do like flying, but I would so much rather have a ferry to get around the state.

This is great news for those who live and work on that side of Maui. ^ to Hawaiian for bringing back the service... but I thought the ATRs couldn't land on the JHM runway without a runway expansion?
http://www.atraircraft.com/datas/dow...bre2014_34.pdf https://www.globalair.com/airport/ap...px?aptcode=JHM Perhaps they got a waiver based upon a weight restriction? On a side-note, the DHC-8 also needs greater than 3000 feet, but I recall that landing at JHM. Perhaps I'm confusing it with the DHC-6? |

Yes, it's great to see HA back at the airport it built. Full circle indeed. |

Some runway work had to be undertaken in the form of installing PAPI's, which are those 4 lights at the end of the runway that tell pilots when they are too high, low or on glidepath. Then they had to wait for the FAA to come out and test/certify them. As far as the planes go, Ohana operates the smaller ATR 42 as compared to Island Air's ATR 72. From what I understand, some flap modification also had to be done in order to facilitate this.

who will be flying between ogg and jhm? Connections?
Certainly not locals. By the time you deal with the airport etc, it's faster to just drive. 1:15 estimate right now according to google maps with some traffic on the West side. -David |

>tfw trying to book this flight and search over and over again with no availability
>realize it's delayed until March 2017 and now you have to book Mokulele again |
