Upgraded SFO->HNL for $335 ea (Wiki updated). Checked ExpertFlyer before and after, and it looks like 1 or 2 others did the same. I probably overbid, however, as there are still F seats for sale

Bid Up Seat Assignments

I understand that you can't choose seats during the bid up process, but has anyone had experience (once confirmed) of HA trying to put parties of 2 together?

My wife and I are travelling in Nov, and right now I see several single seats mixed throughout the F cabin. I know there is no guarantee, but I am curious if HA will at least make an effort to put us together if our bid is in fact successful.

A sample size of 1, but yes they put us two together in First. They won't move anyone else though to make that happen, I wouldn't think!

By the way, on our latest one, HA sent the "congratulations" email at about 10pm Hawaiian time the night prior to T-24, so you can always go in and move yourself after that time. I do understand that the most desirable seats might already be assigned

Hello There,

I would like to try to upgrade my SFO-HNL flight. I could bid now (lowest bid starting at 205$)

I am Hawaiian Gold as they were happy to match my other frequent flyer tier and I now I read one of the benefits is:
"Discounted upgrades with Online Check-in 24 hours prior to
Departure for North America flights on Hawaiian Airlines"

Does anyone know how the price at online check in compares to the bidding? I can imagine it would be higher?

Put in a bid just now for $245 per (minimum bid), OAK-OGG on a flight next week for 2 persons. I don't expect a win, but you never know.

Expertflyer.com reports that 5 F seats are available right now. Maybe there is hope.

ETA: bid accepted! There were 5 F seats available at the 48 hour mark. There is still 1 left, so I'm guessing that two other seats were upgraded via bidding. Maybe that last seat will go to an elite for free.

HA flight 42:
July 8th SFO to OGG $370 bid accepted 29 hours prior to departure
July 22nd OGG to SFO $370 bid accepted! 26 hours prior to departure

=) Wish I had found this thread prior to bidding too much. But, 1st class lie flat has absolutely ruined me for life. The attendants were so genuine and happy! Wonderful flight, 2nd one on my bday, and it's the 1st time I was like "NO I WANT IT TO GO LONGER!!!" lol

Hi all,

I'm completely new to Hawaiian Airlines, have never flown them before and obviously therefore don't have any status.

I am planning in the next day or two to book a return flight SJC-OGG in November. Economy is $532. First Class is $1229, too much of a premium for me to pay for an approx 5hr flight.

I'd love to try to bid for an upgrade though.

I'm looking for advice on how much to bid (per person for 2 pax).

I see I can bid on their website. If I don't get an e-mail invite to bid, should I just go ahead and submit a bid anyway (if eligible)?

Is it better to bid right away or wait until shortly before the flight?

We would be looking to book a full vacation through Hawaiian - hotel, flights, car. Not sure if that somehow matters in the bidding process, but thought I'd ask here anyway.

Dates are SJC-OGG on Nov 10 and return OGG-SJC on Nov 17

Thanks!

Has anyone who uses Amex Plat and has chosen HA as their $200 credit airline, been given reimbursement for a bid-up fee?
