In December, looks like there will be a 330 in both directions HNL-KOA-HNL on the days the KOA-HND is operating.

The latest additions to the 717 fleet were in late 2011, early 2012 and they came on lease from BCC having previously flown at Mexicana and Midwest Airlines. The next additions to the fleet #19 and #20 will arrive late 2016 and are currently at Volotea. No 717s from Australia have come to HAL.

FWIW, I flew HNL-LIH on a 763 last month. Excited at first at the novelty of flying a widebody interisland, it actually turned out to somewhat depressing. Longer boarding time to accommodate the widebody, longer taxi out to the reef runway, and longer wait time to get our bags. Made me appreciate the efficiency of HA's 717.

Seems like a good way to run the 767s through HNL for maintenance.

Check out the interesting history of N489HA, aka 'Po'ouli'
http://www.aussieairliners.org/b-717/vh-vqb/vhvqb.html
and here
http://www.airfleets.net/ficheapp/plane-b717-55002.htm
I forget how many they got, but they were able to snag 4 (?) IIRC from Australia. (Not directly as owners, they are probably all leased, so they were all acquired indirectly) But the planes were ferried over from Australia to HNL. (Repainted in Sydney according to the detailed history for this one.)
It's been a while and I certainly didn't memorize all the details. But I do remember when they got them, because service was horribly thin and unreliable before these entered service and these helped reduced pressure on the 717 fleet. Reliability improved after they got these.
I remember having to buy a walk-up ticket on Go! because they cancelled my flight to HNL, and wanted to put everybody on the "big bird", but I would have missed my UA flight to Narita. ugh.

I can find these 3 that came from Australia. They were all leased from WFB when they were brought to Hawaii in December, 2008, but it looks like they were all purchased by HAL in 2011.

My bad, I was referring to the latest additions to the fleet, not coming to HAL from Australia. Good to know however, that post bankruptcy as the fleet was growing again some came from Australia. Of course, all the original 717s arrived at HAL factory fresh. The entire fleet was purchased off lease in 2011, with the latest additions coming as leases.

This is an informative thread, and I learn a lot. However, for quite awhile we haven't had a post about bidding up to F.
Anyone successful in bidding? Please post your data points. Thanks.

I just received an email to bid up. Upgrade bid starts at $190.
Looks like this could eliminate Pualani Platinum and Gold Members chances of upgrading with points or discounted fees as currently allowed, because there will never be any available seats if they sell them all. Being a platinum member, I'm not too excited about this program.
Luckily, I have already used my free first class upgrades for 2016.

My parents did a bid for SFO-OGG on 9/23/16 for the minimum amount, I believe $145. Unsurprisingly it was denied. I'll add it to the wiki.
I have a bid for SJC-OGG on 9/30/16 for $225pp for 2 seats. I'll report back, I'm betting it'll be denied too.
