adding on to an award ticket after purchase.
 
Im an HA noob, First time booking them. Im trying to book JFK-HNL-OGG but currently only the HNL-OGG flight is available, If i book that leg can I then add on the long-haul later assuming it opens? will it price out properly or will it be a new award?

I'd be really careful on that one. The longer leg is the one you need to be concerned about. When that opens, the inter-island travel part will be a breeze.
