O fare on International ticket
 

I just found on Orbitz a relatively cheap fare for travel between SYD and HNL. It's an O fare. It doesn't seem to earn any miles/points on any of the partners (no surprise there), but does it earn on HA? I called reservations and they stated that it was mileage-earning, but then again, I wouldn't take their word for it - too many agents make stuff up to get you off the phone.

Does anyone here have any experience with paid fares that don't earn anything even on HA's own program?

If Orbitz's offering is one of these published O fares it should be good for earning on HA.

ExpertFlyer is very useful for questions like this.

Thanks for your response. I don't have access to Expertflyer (I dont fly enough these days to justify it). The fare code disappeared after the purchase, but it was OHIS1NZ and OLARNR. I don't see them listed among the eligible fares you quoted. Does it mean we won't earn HA miles?

You will need to check fares for your specific route, if SYD-HNL with a purchase in Australia isn't what you obtained.
