Island Air ends KOA/OGG

Just a quick heads up that with the latest schedule change, IslandAir is bowing out of the Kona-Maui market. This will leave Hawaiian with 2 flights, Mokulele at 12-15, and Pacific Wings with 5.

He's made it clear his intent is to increase air service to Lanai to help support the resorts, which are struggling with extremely low occupancy rates. I think its a smart move by WP to withdraw from the market since they only have 2 planes flying right now and NO spares... president Les Mirashige has made it quite public that Island Air plans to re-enter the Maui - Hilo route when it has enough equipment.
