VS Redemption Devaluation

That sucks...

Wow. That is quite a change. Previously if one wanted to fly SFO-LHR-SYD and return, it was 140K miles. Now it looks like it is 320K miles? That is quite an inflation rate. And just SFO-LHR has gone up from 100K to 160K it appears.

Bummer. I just joined Hawaiian to take advantage of VS transfers. *sigh* Oh, well...

Now what am I gonna do with my HA miiles!? I don't need Hilton points & I don't wanna go to Hawaii. I guess I can just pretend that I can use them on Delta.

Or DJ:rolleyes:

So I would speculate that this will lead a lot of people to convert their HA miles to Hilton to take advantage of the 1:2 exchange rate. I think this exodus might cause that exchange rate to be revised so get out while you can!

Jeez, I guess I've just been royally hosed on this one.

My wife and I got the 2 Hawaiian air credit cards to get the 70,000 points for the 2 worldwide Virgin coach tickets. We were going to go next Thanksgiving, and I was going to book in a few weeks.

I suppose there's absolutely no recourse on this one, even though Hawaiian provided no notice. Has anyone thought to complain? I'm thinking of sending them a letter. It really is unfair to provide no notice of changes to reward levels.

It is unfair, but I believe totally permissible within their T&C. And also, I'd think there aren't enough people mad enough to cause HA to review it's devaluation. Good luck though.
Remember if it doesn't work out you can always transfer to HH?

Or you could sell them for .01 per point.

Ah, usually current news links aren't in someone's siggy. The first link is a summary of AMEX cards and the second is your blog and not the article. Had to scroll down and go to page two to find it.

Sorry, I changed my links ;)
I thought the original link to the article would remain in my previous posts. Apparently not.
