Hawaiian buys 2 ATR-42 for turboprop ops. Only for a small airports but, they cannot handle the B717-200 aircraft. Because the runway is very short. It would be put on weight restrictions.

Rumor has it they will be used to fly to Kapalua.

No surprise that they would go back to West Maui. HA in the 1970's was the first carrier to initiate service there with Shorts SD-330 turboprops. They later switched to De Havilland Canadair Dash-7s before discontinuing service.

HA, however, is looking to brand the service on a separate carrier livery:
