i'm going - can't wait. I went last year to decadence and mardi gras. The french quarter is fine - some of the outlying neighborhoods are still in disrepair, but they were never much of a draw for the gay crowd to begin with. I also went in october last year with my company to do a volunteer project to help rebuild. If you've never been to nola, please go and spend your gay dollar! They need the money and they are some of the friendliest people you will ever meet! And some of the best food you will ever eat!!!

I am assuming that this is a very big GLB event worldwide, and quite well attended. I have a 2-br. French Quarter suite in New Orleans during the festival, which I've decided to rent on ebay.
I'd love to get any input on where you think I should promote the listing. Usually, when I rent my Mardi Gras weeks, there are specific Mardi Gras forums where I can announce the availability. But looking around the net here, I have not found any Southern-Decadence specific forums.
Anybody have any ideas?

well, i booked my room for the st. anne/marie antoinette this year. stayed there before, nice and not too expensive for a holiday weekend. only a few blocks from all the action, but not too close either; still in the french quarter. noticed there are rooms in the central business district still for as little as $47 a night. the official southern decadence hotel search site is here if anyone is interested: http://www.southerndecadence.net/sou...nce-hotels.htm THANKS!

I'm trying to spend as little of my pink dollar as possible in states that have written into their constitutions bans on gay marriage. I will not be visiting Louisiana for some time.

Buster you do have a point-and I also think about this from time to time.
But there are gay enclaves in homo unfriendy states(New Orleans,Ft.Lauderdale,Las Vegas(kinda sorta) come to mind)and if we do not let them know that we are spending our pink dollars because they are gay friendly then nothing will ever change. The southern states(and the southern like states)will never go willingly into the rainbow coloured world and therefore this must be done on a federal level.
California has pockets of rampant homophobia-but is gay friendly on a state level, but you sill cannot get married here.

Would it surprise you to know that it is possible, in New Orleans (the city proper) for two men to register as domestic partners legally?
