Pakistan Safe? Karachi

Any recent reports from Pakistan?
Are any regions safe?

Interesting scene from what I read.

Any Western tourist scene?

Thanks!

I went to Pakistan in 2014 and I had a great time. I went to Islamabad, Lahore, Gilgit & Hunza. It is a somewhat 'risky' country to travel but I personally had no negative experiences. There is no real Western tourist scene, except for the odd diplomat using Grindr.

I am a straight woman who has visited Pakistan twice. I have western friends who lived in Pakistan for many years. One still owns a home in the Karachi area. They have not been to it for 3 years. I am an adventurous traveler and have a reasonable tolerance of risk. There is no way I'd visit Pakistan now. Most westerners have left Pakistan. The handful who remain include those who are married to Pakistanis. If you can blend as a Pakistani, perhaps it is ok. For those of us who have Caucasian skin, it isn't. Here is the US State Department warning against non essential travel to Pakistan.

Hey all!

Here is an account on my trip to Pakistan in 2014 (I'm a late writer!)

Personally I wouldn't go. If you do, strictly stay in the closet while travelling, to not put yourself to (even) more risk. Pakistan doesn't only have a terrorism problem, but crime in general is ubiquitous, as is poverty.
