Hi guys,

We are in the process of planning our wedding / honeymoon (yay :D ) - where she's largely in charge of the whole wedding planning thing - and I am in charge of the honeymoon planning.

I have a bunch of Hyatt points I can burn - and my to-be wife really wants to stay at a hotel that has over the water bungalow - and she's been quite set on Maldives for a while... so we are thinking about four nights in Maldives as a part of our honeymoon.

BUT

From my read, Maldives seems to be one of the most anti-lgbt areas in the world - and I was wondering if we can pull this off - or we are being incredibly stupid by going there.

4 days is a just part of our honeymoon. It's expensive point-wise, but at some point, I do need to use my 400,000 Hyatt points, so 25k/night won't hurt us much.

Right now, we are thinking

US -> Maldives -> Singapore/Vietnam/Cambodia -> China/Korea/Japan -> US itinerary.

It is Islamic - but wasn't sure whether it was "you are ok in your resort" islamic or "secret religious police storming into your room at 3am in the night" islamic.

Not sure if it matters or not - but we are both fairly feminine - so we do have the privilege passing as friends... (altho which is a problematic when hotels switch our king bed room to 2x double bed rooms without telling us)

You are most certainly not under Sharia Law as a tourist, but the question might be allowed why we should support countries where such wordings exist. There are many civilized destinations in the world. For myself I would even not fly a MEA carrier fr the reason: human rights, women rights and gay rights.
