FRA Luggage Storage or Lockers

We possibly have a 6 hour plus layover in FRA this August and were thinking to go into the city for 2-3 hours but don't want to carry around our carry-on luggage. I read on the airport sight there is a luggage storage, but I assume it is outside of security. If that is the case, are there any lockers past security for our things?

I always use the Left Luggage facilities (there are three, two of them in T1 and one in T2). I've always found them easy to use for short-term storage.

However, another alternative is to use the lockers in the Hauptbahnhof. The attached map shows the location of the lockers (Schließfach):

So to confirm then, the left luggage in Terminal one is outside of security and there is no place after security to store hand luggage?

I always use the Left Luggage facility on the landside T1 Arrivals Level (since it is the one that stays open 24 hours).

The second Left Luggage facility in T1 (one floor up, Departures Level), and the Left Luggage facility in T2 are both open from 06:00 to 22:00. Never having used either one of these two facilities, I ask another Flyertalker to confirm their exact location (especially from a landside vs airside perspective).

The thread will be better served in the GERMANY forum. I have just alerted a moderator to move it. Good luck

I haven't seen any newer posts on the topic of long-term locker storage in FRA. I'm thinking about all my options during a future trip and am curious about luggage storage in FRA. Here's my situation:

I'm transiting through FRA. 11 days separate my layovers at FRA. The 1st layover is 2 hours whereas the 2nd layover is 21 hours (overnight). What options would you recommend for this long-term storage? Does it matter if the bag is a carry-on or full sized? Also, does the recommendation change if I'm transiting FRA in F?

Does the FRA airport webpage have all my answers? :)

Thanks in advance.

Last year I arrived at Frankfurt Flughafen, and needed to make a day trip to Essen on DB to attend an event. I check my 21" roller at the 24-hour Left Luggage check room, taking my computer bag with me on the train. On arrival at the Essen Hbf, I "parked" the computer bag in a coin locker while attending my event). Doing the reverse on the return, I claimed the bag in the early morning when returning to FRA - the charge was €7,50.

That page has most of your answers, but I'm not sure there's time to check luggage for a 2 hour layover. Do you mean two hours between flights or two hours free, already accounting for arrival procedures and check-in/screening procedures?

As for carry-on v. "full-sized", there are just two categories of luggage charges--small/normal and large. The dimensions are given on that page.

For any checked luggage, you might consider through-checking your bags so that you don't have to deal with them during the layovers. Depending on your immediate needs for your luggage at your destination, you might consider downsizing your carry-on luggage and checking what you might otherwise carry-on (leaving at least a change of clothes and any valuables in your carry-on).

The reason I'm asking about long-term lockers in FRA is because the 1st transit through FRA is after a week layover in London. I'm trying to think about what to do with possible souvenirs from England. I'd like to fly with London souvenirs to FRA, lock them up in FRA, go on to Asia, pick up the souvenirs before flight home from FRA. I'll need to figure out how good this option might be.

On the first day of transit through FRA, I mean that I arrive from London on LH and leave on LH 2 hours later. I agree that 2 hours could be tight for retrieving a short checked suitcase and going to the FRA lockers. Hopefully, anything I would want to store at FRA I'll be able to carry-on.

Things may have changed (I haven't used lockers at German train stations for a few years) - but it used to be the case that lockers came with a maximum time period of something like five days. Anything not retrieved after five days would be treated as lost luggage.

So - what you're planning to do may not work.

At the FRA airport, the luggage storage is a staffed office, not lockers. There is a daily charge, but a week should be fine (verify of course when dropping off). However, the bigger problem is the short 2 hour timeframe between flights.

I know this thread is 14 years old, but looking to ask the experts here for clarity or experience.

The first FRA website says - long term storage 4+ hrs is 10.50 euros/calendar day. Afterwards it mentions Night Tariff Normal luggage of 10 hrs for 10.50 euros/calendar day.
https://www.frankfurt-airport.com/en...services-.html

The other FRA baggage website says 10.50 euros per calendar day (over 4 hrs i assume)
https://www.frankfurt-airport.com/en...storage-2.html

If I am storing my bag for 2 days Am i being charged 10.50 euros per day or 21.00 euros per day?

notquiteaff Oct 29, 2024 1:02 pm

The way I read the pages, $10.50 per calendar day.

The question I would have is, what is a calendar day here? If I turn a bag in today (10/29) at 10am and pick it up tomorrow (10/30) at 9am, so 23 hrs later, do I get charged for two calendar days? Seems… odd.

ffgap Nov 1, 2024 11:52 am

From reading it in the German original, it seems fairly clear it is EUR 10.50 per calendar day. There is a reduced fee of EUR 10.50 if you store it overnight but for no more than 10 hours total. I assume this is meant as a tiny favor to customers forced to do a quick overnight in FRA due to IRROPS in conjunction with the ban on night flights.
