Altotting worth going?

Hi, has anyone been to Altotting in Bavaria? If so, your suggestions and advices are appreciated.

I grew up just around the corner. What are your interests? Religion? Sight-Seeing? ...?

If you are religious (and catholic) it's the place for you to go. Lots of interesting places, granted a little touristy. Most interesting weekend is Whitsun with lots of pilgrimage going on!

It can also nicely be combined (in a day-trip from Munich, say) with Burghausen, which has an interesting castle (fortress type), and a nice center of town below.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I am not extremely religious even though my family is Catholic. I just thought it would be an interesting place to see.

Combining it with Burghausen is highly recommended. Burghausen is hardly known but really worth going. All my friends that visited the castle were really impressed.

Regardless if you are religious or not, seeing how Altötting works is interesting. It might be even more interesting on a Catholic holiday, if you don't mind the crowds. Just to see how it works is quite an experience.

Yes, and you can visit the birthplace of the Pope close to Altötting.

Been there? I think it's not worth going, there is not a whole lot to see...

Been there, sure....

This is not a "lot to see" issue but a spiritual issue. :p
