Transport from TXL to Marriott Berlin

Going to be flying into TXL this Saturday on BA. Trying to figure out the best/most economical (hey.. I got laid off about two weeks ago) way to get from the airport to the Berlin Marriott.

I'm not saying I'm looking for the absolute cheapest way.. but something that's going to be a better option than a taxi.

Thanks!

Greg

eg by checking with the journey planner on http://www.bvg.de/index.php/en/Bvg/Start

Use TXL for the airport and "Potsdamer Platz" for your destination and you will not only find the second to most cheapest way (walking might be cheaper) but will have learnt something new :).

Sngly Ticket is 2,10 Euro, Day pass good for all public transport in the city area AB is 6,00 Euro. Enjoy. BTW: Taxi should be around 18 Euro

I've done the bus trip.. and used the U-bahn.. and the taxi.. Take the taxi if you have luggage.. If you don't, take the taxi.. while Berlin's subway system is certainly decent, you do have to take a bus first to the U-bahn.. then change trains once.. while it is cheaper, it can take a bit to get to the hotel. Potsdamerplatz is the correct stop. You can't miss the hotel. It's located across the street from the Canadian Embassy. Look for the red maple leafed flags.

Make a left turn from BA gates. Get your transport tickets before exiting the airport, there's a BVG desk right there with maps and all. If for some reason the desk is closed, there are ticket machines outside. Stamp the ticket on the bus (single or multi-day tickets only need to be stamped once)

Take bus "TXL" to Zoo (Zoologischer Garten) and change to the U-Bahn line U2 in the direction of Pankow. Get off at Potsdamer Platz.

Shouldn't take too long.

I did this trip for Presidents Day on BA, only I stayed on Kurfürstendam in West Berlin, so my bus ride took only 20 mins.

Enjoy Berlin :).

EDIT: I stand corrected, see response below

The bus from Tegel Airport to Zoo Station is 109, not TXL. The TXL bus runs to the Main train station (Hbf) and farther from there.

I would recommend taking the TXL bus to the 'Unter den Linden' S-Bahn stop, right next to the Brandenburg gate. From there it's only one stop on any southbound S-Bahn to the Potsdamer Platz, where the Marriott is. Probably the quickest way.

I think that the easiest way is to take the X9 bus (not 109, as X9 is an "express" line) from TXL to Bahnhof Zoo. Then, walk about 10 feet to the stop for Bus # 200. Exit the #200 bus at Potsdammer Platz, and you are about 100 meters from the Marriott.

The beauty of this route is that it is all on the surface. No stairs to negotiate, no elevators or escalators to search for.

I stand corrected, Non-NonRev and flugvergnugen you are both correct.

Can a day pass be purchased at TXL or on the bus?

Yes (to both?) I believe - there is definitely a ticket machine at TXL by the bus stops, and I am pretty sure the driver could sell you one too. Actually come to think of it maybe most people buy them before they board? Maybe I am just thinking of the trams, which have self-service ticket machines on board!

There is also a BVG counter inside the terminal just before the exit to the bus stops. You can buy any sort of ticket there -- one-way, day pass, WelcomeCard, etc.

it is worth mentioning that the directions for the Marriott also work perfectly for the Intercontinental, since the IC is on Budapester Strasse, the road that the #200 travels on shortly after leaving the Bahnhof Zoo bus stop.

Greg

The regular one day pass can be bought on board. You say "tageskarte AB" (daypass AB) or ABC if you want to include Potsdan and the deal is done

Any updated thoughts for bus/train travel between TXL and the Westin Grande?

This is a bit of cross posting my friend....

But you certainly now know where to find the answer.
