DUS to Essen transportation???
I was not sure where to post this, so please move if this isn't the right place.
Can anyone offer advice for the easiest (and cheapest??) way to get from DUS (airport, not the city in general) to Essen, Germany?? Even more specifically, within Essen, I am looking for how to get to the Hotel Bredeney. Help, anyone?? Please? |

Hm, well I looked it up with the local transit authority, and it requires 2 changes and takes 1h 15mins for a random day/time...
Basically you need to catch an S-Bahn from DUS to Essen Central Station, then a tram to Bredeney (center), and from there a bus to where your hotel is... One way fare is EUR9.10 |
From DUS airport to Essen main station, you have the following options:
S-Bahn: every 20 minutes, takes about 45 minutes, should not be that expensive, I bet around 5 Euros / OW regional train: runs about 3 times / hour as well but not in a steady rhythm like the S-Bahn. This one takes about 20-25 minutes. The price should be about the same ICE (Inter City Express): every once in a while, even an ICE is available. Travel time on that segment is not really shorter compared to the regional train but I bet it's a lot expensive (compared to the other options) All trains (except the S-Bahn into Düsseldorf that you do not want) leave from the so called "Fernbahnhof" (outside station) You need to take the Skytrain from the Terminal Building (stops at AB and C) to get there. Let me know if you need more information. |
and from Essen Central: Take tram U11 (direction Messe/Gruga) and change at the terminus stop to bus 142 (direction Kettwig). Bus stop "Sommerburgstrasse" is in front of the hotel. Taxi should be in the range of 30 Euro.
