Dusseldorf to Koln by river boat
Yet again I turn to the wealth of knowledge of FT members for advice...
Going to Dusseldorf in late August for a short 3 days. Want to spend 2 days in Dusseldorf and a daytrip to Koln. Ideally we'd be able to take a little river cruise between the 2 cities. Is there anything like that? Maybe, ferry the one way and then take the rail the other? Thanks for the tips! Sorry, this should be in the Germany forum, could you please move? Thanks! |
for your convenience, I move this thread to the Germany forum. The knowledge of the people over there, will answer your question. and I changed the thread title - ferry is not the best word for a boat on the Rhine between Düsseldorf & Cologne.

Duesseldorf "Weisse Flotte" offers tours on certain Saturdays:
Samstag, 28.04. + 19.05. + 09.06. + 07.07. + 21.07. + 04.08. + 18.08. + 08.09. + 22.09. + 20.10. Köln-Duesseldorfer offers tours on certain Mondays: Mo. 21.05., 25.06., 09.07., 23.07., 06.08., 20.08., 03.09., 17.09. Honestly: The trip is boring. I would propose to take the train from DUS to Bonn, about 40 minutes and take the boat from there to Mainz and return by train to DUS. On the trip from DUS to Cologne you will see nothing you expect to see (unless you favour Bayer AG and chemical plants). |

Stay the night of your "daytrip" in Cologne. You won't regret doing so, the dining and nightlife are just great that time of year.

I did split the Dusseldorf-Köln river boat thread and moved the beer posts into this new thread. I think it may be interesting to have a place to discuss the different beer specialities Germany has to offer. please follow those posts in the new thread: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=715053
and now lets get back on topic here, which is the possibility of river boat tours on the Rhine. chrissxb moderator Germany Forum |
