hi chris,
can you please update fllowing information for transfer betwen TXL-SXF: You need a ticket for zones "ABC" (2,80€) now! Schönefeld airport is in zone "C" now and they are looking for people they can charge a 40€ fine for travelling without a valid ticket. For all other travells within the City of Berlin an "AB" ticket (2,10€) is still fine... Just an extra, due to the missmanagment of the S-Bahn the shedule is squeezed out a lot (speacialy to SXF), so any advice should be take the U-Bahn from Jungfernheide or the Airportexpress. This will continue untill fall 2010. If you want some more information for SXF let me know... cheers |

Executive Road Warrior has fairly extensive coverage of hotels, restaurants, flights, and things to do in Germany, including reviews of Vier Jahreszeiten, The Charles, and the MO in Munich.
In the interest of full disclosure, I am ERW's editor and since we spend a lot of time in Central Europe (and I used to live in Munich), I'm happy to answer any questions that come up. |

PUBLIC TRANSPORT Since there is no railway connection to the city center, you have to use one of the two bus-services. First is the bus 110, connecting the airport every 10 minutes to Ohlsdorf train station. From there you may use the suburban trains 1 or 11 or the underground 1 to the city center. All trains stop at the central station (main tourist information). A single one-way ticket is 2,50 Euro, a day-ticket 4,90 Euro, traveltime to the main station is around 40 minutes in total. For more information, routings or prices visit http://www.hvv.de which is available in English too. The information displayed here is very much out of date. There is now a great public transport connection from the Hamburg Airport to the central Hamburg train staton, all connecting commuter lines, and of course inter-city rail. The S-Bahn ticket costs €2.75 one-way and signs are clearly marked to the station, which is right under the terminal. I can't believe I used to pay €35 to get home by taxi. |

Thanx for the Hamburg airport public transport update. We will be in Hamburg this June and will be staying within a short walk to the main train station. Other FTers have suggested nearby day trips via train (Lubeck and Luneberg.)
