Easter in Berlin
 
Hi

I am thinking of planning a weekend trip to Berlin on 7/8 April (Easter Saturday and Sunday).

Is this a good idea? Will it be busy or dead? Hotels seem pretty decently priced through Expedia.

Any advice appreciated!

I will flee and fly from Europe to US on eastern. LH will introduce a new flight from MUC to DEN on the 31st March with the double miles promotion. I take the opportunity to celebrate eastern at Denver.

(I suggest moving this to the Germany Forum.)

Eastern is high travel season in Germany but if you find them to be decently priced then fine with that. For Hotels you can also go through hotel.de/hotel.com for germany or even better hrs.de as they offer you better cancel options.

Actually hotels in Berlin are normally decently priced throughout the year (okay there are some exceptions but compared to Rom, Paris or …). I don't think that it'll be too busy but it won't be dead either.

If you feel like visiting Berlin than go for it. Why should it be a bad ideas? Enjoy your trip.

When I stay at Berlin, I always stay at IC Berlin. They offers great rates.

I agree but the Ritz is not that bad either. I wouldn't recommend the Hilton. While it is directly located at the Gendarmenmarkt, it is not that great at all.

Has someone already stayed in the Rocco Forte Hotel de Rome? It looks great from what I can see at pictures.

The IC seems to be going for € 125 that date, RadissonSAS € 149, the Ritz for € 215 and Adlon for € 315 (all according to the Amex Centurion website). Clearly you can see I am bored today ...

I have stayed at the Hilton when they had their €99 weekend rates. At that price it is ok, but not worth a penny more.

I'll gladly repeat that… There are some exceptions (e.g. ITB or Grüne Woche) but normally prices are pretty good in Berlin compared to other cities in Europe.

BTW Berlin during fairs is nothing compared to Frankfurt: have you ever tried to get a hotel while the Buchmesse is in town?

But for sure you are right that it can be expensive sometimes…
