Transiting Through MUC (Non-Schengen to Schengen) -- What to Expect
 

Hi,
I will be flying PRG/MUC/CDG on LH Regionals (Air Dolomiti connecting to Lufthansa City Line), and I have a few questions.

First, because the Czech Republic is a non-Schengen country, will I have to clear immigration in MUC?

Second, will I have to clear customs in MUC or CDG?

Third, if I have to clear customs in CDG, will my bags be checked through or will I have to claim and re-check in MUC?

As I see it:

1) Yes, you will go through an immmigration check in MUC as you pass from gate to gate. Very simple and fast.

2) Bags go to CDG, Customs is in CDG (done by using different luggage tags and a common baggage hall. Schengen bags get a tag with a green border stripe).

3) Bags checked through.

I think you will be pleased with how smoothly things work at MUC in the new terminal.

Not exactly sure why you wouldn't post this int he LH forum, but...

You'll clear immigration in MUC. You'll arrive in the non-schengen area and hit immigration, then another security check to get into the schengen area. Your bags will be tagged all the way through and you will do customs at CDG--no immigration since you're travelling between Schengen countries.

As lsdunch says, with the additional caveat that technically carry-on luggage clears customs in MUC with you.

Correct: You pass the nice young customs officer who is obviously bored. And customs in CDG is more or less non existing. In total, everything should not take any longer than 2 minutes. Europe is - thanks God - not the US.
