Rideshare in Germany

My apologies if this is the wrong forum to post this but I would like to know which ride share companies work in Germany, especially outside the big metro cities? I understand that Uber is not particularly common - are there any similar Apps that are used in Germany?

Rideshare apps will probably call taxi services - you can also try Bolt and Freenow. What works will vary between city and city.

Due to various national regulations and the labour unions, the usual rideshare applis don't really do much in Germany. The applis will just call taxis and you'll pay by the meter.

Remember to carry cash, as many refuse to accept cards. Germany hasn't quite moved out of the 20th century yet.

Cards are widely accepted in cities or larger towns now, but rural cab services tend to be not bookable on any app (not even the German ones like Freenow), and strictly cash only.

Everytime I take a taxi from the aéroport Francfort to my house, they always say they don't take cards. Likely they're lying, but i've given up on that battle.

Use FreeNow, pay by card.

Uber is only a broker of limo services in Germany. Freenow and Sixt Ride can call a taxi for you or sell you a trip at a fixed price in the app if you book about 1 hour in advance.

If you can get a cab with it. I was ignored at the end of the world and when one came he claimed the system wasn't working and I could either get out and wait for another one or cancel and pay regularly.

I found Uber to work quite OK in Frankfurt at least about a year ago when I was still living there. Availability not always the best (granted) but price wise quite OK. I do find Frankfurt cabbies generally quite grumpy, especially when requesting to pay by card. They all, also expect you to tip them / round up the fare by a few EUR, else they may turn extra grump(ier).

At least you no longer need them at this moment
