Plan more time at MUC
 

Long weekend in Germany, Oktoberfest in Munich and still staffing issues caused chaos at MUC yesterday (3.10.2024). Lines for security started outside the terminal building. Waititng time at security was about 90 minutes.

Normally Frankfurt airport ( called Moloch at Main meaning place of chaos) has a bad reputation and Munich airport was considered to be a good aiprort. This has somehow shifted.

You couldn't pay me enough to visit Munich during Wiesen-time.
A cliché Italian (the type you don't find in Italy outside of tourist traps) proudly told me in Bermuda that he had already been to the Oktoberfest. He eagerly answered my question as to whether he had been on Italian Day, but I think he had no idea what I was really asking him and what the intention of the question was.

Ahh, the famous Italienerwochenende. Since there are so many Italians visiting the Oktoberfest, the German policy gets support by Carabinieri during the Wiesn.
