Technologies at Frankfurt Airport in times of Corona

Dear Community,

we are currently writing our master thesis, which focuses on Frankfurt Airport. We are investigating how new but also already existing technologies (e.g. self-services or biometrics) at Frankfurt Airport influence and change the customer experience in times of Corona. To get general insights and opinions on the topic, we would like to conduct interviews with people who have flown via Frankfurt Airport between March 2020 and March 2021. We would be very happy if someone would take about 30 minutes of time for us. :)

Kind regards

Laura van Hulsen and Sidney Hansmeier

what biometrics and self-service kiosks?

The passport e-gates have not been in service for a good part of the last year. The airside self-service kiosks work less than half the time, especially if you're connecting from a partner airline to LH. :D

I flew into FRA in August and used the e-gates (for the final time entering Schengen as a British citizen).

My flight was reasonably full but the airport was eerily empty. If I hadn't missed the S-Bahn train by 20 seconds I would have been in the city centre 30 minutes after flight arriving.
