Update on Berlin Airport
Update on the Berlin "mess". The current main airport for Berlin TXL, closed on 15 Jun. All traffic was moved to the second airport SXF, which is located opposite the brand new airport for Berlin to be called BER (sharing both runways in between the two airports SXF/BER). SXF will currently operate as Berlin's sole airport until 15 Oct. At that time BER will finally open to become Berlin's single airport. Time will tell if they will keep to this schedule.

Hmm... where did you get that? TXL will stay open till BER opens in November: https://www.berlin-airport.de/de/unt...ffen/index.php

There was a published plan to shut TXL temporarily, on which they back-pedalled at short notice. So TXL is still alive and will stay so until at least November 8.
Seemingly there is a transition period between end October and beginning November when both TXL and BER will be operating. It would appear that the current SXF operation would terminate during that time - the existing SXF terminals have already been renamed as BER terminals in preparation for that. Also, I got a notification from BA today that my LHR-TXL for end November is now LHR-BER, but my outbound TXL-LHR at beginning November still shows as such. |
This is, as oliver2002 already highlighted, not up to date. Instead of merging this post into the existing thread about the opening of the new airport (Thread about opening hour) I close this thread
