FRA Terminal 1 (Zone A) Border Control?
 
Hello,

I will be flying from Stockholm to FRA and I am trying to determine if I will need to cross a border control. The flight lands in Terminal 1 zone A (A19, A26... on previous transits), is there any border control between A19 and the exit?

Looking at the map it seems that Zone A is the Schengen zone and that Zone Z above is the Non-Schengen zone, which means I should be able to exit without crossing border control, is this correct?

Has anyone transited through here lately (post corona) who can confirm?

You are travelling within Schengen, so there is no border control.

In normal times I have no doubt this is correct, only reason I ask is due to the current re-introduction of border controls even within the EU.

Sweden of course is not listed as one of these countries, so I think everything should be operating as normal, I am however looking for some confirmation that this remains the case.

And if not, will there be any type of check at the gate when boarding in Stockholm? I am concerned about entry restrictions since my fiancee is not an EU citizen, IATA and German documentation seems to indicate her entry would not be allowed (she is not EU citizen and currently has no residence permit for Germany, though she has one in Sweden).

Ah, you did not say that you would be travelling with someone who is currently not permitted to enter Germany. In this case I doubt she would be permitted to board the plane. Exact details matter about your citizenship, residence, and purpose of travel. The wording on the German Ministry of the Interior is:
  • Persons who are not EU citizens and who have no long-term right of residence are not allowed to enter unless they have an urgent reason to do so. Entry for purposes of tourism is no longer allowed.

I just spoke with the German Bundespolizei and explained our situation. They confirmed your initial statement that this flight is a Schengen zone flight and therefore no border control would be done at FRA. They did not mention any checks at the gate however I see how that could be possible. As she is moving with me and plans to take up permanent residency in Germany I think the gate agent would allow it if they check (it is not for tourism).

So you are a German/EU citizen with a permanent residence (I assume) in Munich and your non-EU citizen fiancée will be travelling with you to permanently reside with you in Germany, correct? Did you explain that situation to the BP? I think you should be ok, but I can see a gate agent being unsure of this. I would have as much paperwork with me as possible, especially since being engaged is not a formal condition (as marriage would be). Good luck

Exactly, and yes I explained that to them. I will bring everything we have with us.
