Question Short Frankfurt (FRA) Connection Time

I'm in the process of booking my flight home from Rome to Milwaukee. I'm a little concerned about the short 1h 40m connection in Frankfurt on Lufthansa (Likely arriving at gate A40 and departing from gate Z54). In the states, this would be plenty of time, but traveling with my wife and daughter, having never been to FRA and could there be customs/or security delay? Worth the risk or not? Thanks!

Plenty of time. Everything will be within the same terminal. Lufthansa will sell connections as short as 60 minutes with the assumption that it's a reasonable amount of time to connect. If there is a delay, there are plenty of other options to get you home that night.

The situation provided would be an easy connection and definitely doable. There would be a passport control at departure but with e-gates ( assuming that you are US citizens ), it would be a breeze. In addition, as you're arriving from a Schengen state, you wouldn't need to re-pass security at Frankfurt.

You have plenty of time. Z concourse is located above A, so the distances are very manageable. Unlike the US, gates are known only a few minutes prior to arrival, so it is reasonably safe to say that you probably won't be at A40/Z54!

As others have said, provided no abnormal queues, you should have reasonable time. Although passing through FRA always makes me want to buy HON status to make it bearable, 1:40 will usually be without running

600,000 miles in premium cabins gets expensive!
