7 days in Germany
 
My friend and I are travelling to Cologne at the end of November and spending a week. I would like to visit other cities as I do think a week is too much to stay only at Cologne, what do you suggest?

Welcome to flyertalk akelzz. Will you have your base in Cologne and do only want to do day trips or are you more flexible? What are you interested in?
General suggestions are:
  • Visit the cathedral in Cologne and one of the many museums in Cologne, for example the Roman/Germanic museum or the chocolate museum
  • Trip to Bonn to visit the birthplace of Beethoven
  • Trip to Amsterdam
  • Trip to Aachen
  • Trip to Essen to visit one of the industrial museums
  • Trip up the rhine valley

I agree that a week is probably a couple of days more than you need to get a flavor.

I also agree that it depends what you like. Tons of places within a short train ride. Germany has a pretty good tourism website.
