Question Connecting in TXL - VIE to EWR (OS-UA with 1:10 Layover)

Hey expert folks of FT,

I have a flight tomorrow that leaves VIE to EWR by way of TXL. It's a 7:10am United/Austrian flight (OS271) that lands at 8:35am. My connection from Berlin leaves at 9:45am.

I already got burned on the way in about a week ago, when I connected through Lisbon and the airport's passport control totally screwed me (plane was late, passport control took over 1:15 and I missed my LIS-VIE and barely made the second one).

Any tips on what I can do to make sure I give myself the best chance of making my connection? Granted, they pad the times and if all goes well, I think I'll be all right, but it feels very close and if the passport control line is a mile long, I'm gonna be in for a rough time.

I have had such connections work rather easily for me at TXL when flying on one ticket all the way. Even with less scheduled time than 85 minutes.

OS appears to arrive A gates and UA appears to depart B gates. TXL passport control should not be a mile long as each gate has it's own passport control.

Flight to EWR tomorrow appears to be completely sold out especially given that today's flight was cancelled due to flight from EWR to TXL was cancelled.

Folks, thank you for all your great advice! I didn't need additional luck, but I got it in the form of a slight delay. Thank you, efficient Germany! I made it with half an hour to spare, not when including the delay.

My concern would have been: had your return been protected once you missed one of the inbound flights? Obviously a good agent at work!

Flew AB JFK-TXL connecting to AB TXL-DUS. First flight came in 35 minutes late into C remote gate leaving me with 40 minute connection (just under MCT) departing from A. Good day I had enrolled in easypass. Saved me at least 10 minutes by avoiding the non-EU passport control.
