My suggestion for Berlin is to upload the following two apps:
- myTaxi - Sixt mydriver The latter will get you high quality cars with professional drivers. |

If you have time in advance Blacklane is a good alternative to Sixt.

Uber in Germany is just an agency to broker limo services, very similar to Blacklane and Mydriver.

I think you mean download. ;) |
I want to offer an apology to LondonElite for my comments in post #14 . In re-reading, my tone came across much more harshly and aggressively than I intended in the moment and was unnecessary. I'm not going to delete the comment as I think that's a cop out; in frustration I made the comment and I'll own that.
That said, I do stand by the thesis, that too often these days on FT we decide to debate peoples preferences, divert the thread, and try to make others justify their preferences, when simply answering the question directly or ignoring the thread would suffice. However, I could have articulated that concept in a better, more constructive way. Again, my apologies. Regards |
All cool!

What is the obsession with taxis? Public transport other than taxis (as some people consider taxis to be public transport) is excellent in Berlin.

In Germany, taxis ARE public transport by law (§8(2) PBefG). |
Taxis are only in very limited situations part of local public Transport (ÖPNV). There are excamples when at special times a taxi instead of a bus is used for a regular bus line as there are not enough passengers. In my opinion (not 100% sure) even if you use a taxi with a voucher issued by Deutsche Bahn because your ÖPNV-train falls out is not a case of ÖPNV. It would be a case of ÖPNV if while a route is blocked taxis take passengers frome one station to another.
