Fraport Tour

I ran across a post on this forum about a tour of FRA airport. I googled and found this: http://www.frankfurt-airport.com/en/...e-booking.html

Now, it seems to me that the only tour which is realistic for individuals (the others seem to require group booking or are just very expensive) is the so called "Starter". And, it seems that it is offered only in German.

Anyone went to this tour? Is it really only in German? Is it worth it if your German is so-so?

I have done the Maxi-Tour last year and found it pretty nice. You ride around the tarmac in a bus and a guide shares some information about FRA.

The tour itself was in German only but there were a couple of people who didn't speak any German at all and they seemed to enjoy it too. So if you just want to see airplanes from another perspective and have some time, go for it.

By the way, you can find all the information about the tours here:

I did the Maxi tour in German. I also only have so-so German and enjoyed it. The guide talked about the logistics and operations of FRA which was pretty interesting.

I recently did the starter tour.
Had a pretty funny german speaking guide who probably lost all his wit for someone who just understands the basics.
He did cover some basics about the airport and certain plane types we stopped next to, but he was more about telling funny anecdotes.

As mentioned above, the tour is basically riding around the apron in a regular airport bus and stopping next to interesting planes/views.
You don't really see more than on a ride from a bus gate - you just have more time.

I'd say go for it if you like the athmosphere but don't expect any look behind the scenes, since the starter tour is really only a quick overview.

Sounds like a similar experience when LH F passengers get when they are driven to their departure aircraft. :)

We've also done the starter tour with the kids a couple years ago and found it pretty interesting. As Cargoguy said, you ride around the apron with explanations of interesting areas and operations. We also briefly stopped next to a runway to view planes landing and taking off.

I did think it was different from riding a bus to a bus gate.
