Layover time in FRA

Hi all,

I will be flying into FRA from SFO via Lufthansa and then transiting to Graz, Austria. The layover time in FRA is 1 hr and 20 mins. Is this enough time to get to the Graz, Austria flight? They are both on Lufthansa.

I'm unsure because I've never been to FRA and not sure if I need to go through customs in FRA at all etc etc. Assuming my SFO-FRA flight is on time, will I have enough time to get to my next flight?

I'm not an international traveler!

It seems tight and it depends on so many things...how fast you walk, which gate you're coming into and which are you going out of, etc.

For a mere 85 euros, you can have them meet your plane and take you to your departure gate. But do you want to spend that much?

You will have to clear passport control in FRA to enter Schengen but usually no security or customs (at least nothing that you'll notice). If your SFO-FRA flight is on time you will be fine. If you are on one ticket and miss your connection they will put you on the next flight to Graz.

Please check the FRA connection thread suggested by oliver2002.

You'll be fine. I did LAX->FRA then FRA->LHR with a 50 minute connect time. That involved

Landing at Z gates.
Exiting security (not entering Schengen) to ride the skyline tram.
Entering security at B gates after a long walk.

It took me 20 minutes. Since your next flight is Schengen you may not need to ride the tram which should save time. (Z gates -> passport control -> tunnel if B gate departure otherwise A gates which are one level below Z)

A few things in my favor:
- The LAX-FRA flight had an on-time departure (which means it landed early at FRA... don't remember how early)
- I was flying business class (exiting the plane was fast. priority security screening... but the couple in front of me were super slow so probably a wash.)
- I'm familiar with FRA enough that if I don't know where I'm going I blindly follow signs.

Couple of points here.

You have not stated C or Y and since you are coming in on an A380, this can make a difference.

Secondly, you arrive around 1050. If we look about 20 minute before and 20 minutes after we see you are arriving at about the same time as an A380 from JFK (SQ), 748 from Sao Paulo (LH), 744 from Orlando (LH), 744 from Vancouver (LH) and A330 from Montreal (AC), 744 from Denver (LH), A380 from LAX (LH), 748 from Buenos Aires (LH), 744 from Boston (LH), 777 from Toronto (AC) and a few A321-A318 flights from Israel, London, Africa and the like. That is a lot of pax to get through immigration at the same time.

1h20m is normally ok but since Graz is bus boarding, it can be boarding from anywhere.

The flights you listed will be arriving in Z, B or C piers and passengers go through immigration at different check points. Only those arriving in Z (or B/C and coming on Skyline shuttle to Z) and connecting to flights departing from A will go through the same check point as the OP.
