St Georg, Hamburg....

just got back from a weekend in hamburg for a stag do, really good time.
But was it was a stag do i wasnt looking at the country itself very much.
one thing i noticed near the Hauptbahnhof station was lots of Turkish Doner kebab shops etc, is there a big turkish immigration area in hamburg then? wasnt expecting so many kebab shops in germany, thought that was more a british thing.

Well, Germany has the largest Turkish population outside Turkey.

According to Wikipedia, there are 16.000 Kebap stores, with estimated annual sales of EUR3.5 billion!

Kebap is not Doner Kebap. The Doner actually was invented by a turkish immigrant in Berlin and is probably the second most common fast food after the curry wurst.

Were you perchance part of a group flying in from LHR on the BA flight that got in around 7pm Friday?
