Munich HBF to Munich ZOB/ Flix bus
Does anyone have any idea how long it will take to get from Munich Hauptbahnhof to the bus station/ZOB? Or, to be more precise, if I have a good chance of getting off a train that arrives at 0610 and onto a bus that leaves at 0700? I was thinking of catching the S-Bahn from the hbf to hackerbrucke, minimises the chance of getting lost and I doubt i'll fancy the walk much anyway. I'm reasonably familiar with the HBF but i've never been to the ZOB.
Also does anyone know anything about Flix bus? Is it ok for a two hour journey? |
It looks like a five minute walk on google maps

I've seen the distance quoted as 800m which I reckon is more than a 5 minute walk with luggage. I'll have to try googling it myself, which is more than i'd thought of doing previously - good idea jt.

The distance from the Munich Hauptbahnhof to the Central Bus Station (ZOB) is about 3-4 times the length of the longest platforms in the Munich Hbf. You certainly can walk it, and I think 15 minutes would be more than enough, even if you have luggage. Just get off the train, walk to the station concourse, turn left, go all the way out to the street, and turn left again. If you do have a lot of luggage, or if it is raining outside, then take the S-Bahn for 1 stop: you will see the S-Bahn sign (green circle with a white "S") just before reaching the exit from the concourse. Take the long escalator down, buy a ticket, take another escalator down, and there you are. Any S-Bahn train that is NOT heading towards Marienplatz/Ostbahnhof is yours. From the Hackerbrücke station you basically go up the stairs and you are at the bus station.
Flixbus is one of several new long-distance bus lines which have sprung up in Germany in the last year. They have nice buses and are reasonably reliable. Might even have free WiFi, although that doesn't always work well in a moving bus. It's just fine for a two-hour trip. |
Thanks guys. Having looked at google directions it does look like quite a reasonable walk so I think I will walk it if I feel like it and the weather is OK and take the S-Bahn if not.
Thanks for the advice on the buses David |
You can also take a tram for 2 stops - may be easier to deal with than the S-Bahn, as it's right there on the street.
|
Yeah i'm thinking tram might be the way to go. It's a longer walk at the bus station end but easier at the HBF end.

You need an Ticket for the Public Transport if you want use the Tram or Sbahn.
